BIKING CHINA - October 2013
Sichuan Province and Tibetan Plateau
Sunday 13th October 2013 - Saturday 26nd October 2013

This new proposal is possible thanksto  the collaboration between PROGETTOAVVENTURA and FAWCETT EXPEDITIONS,  the canadian tour operator that works here since 2005.

This ride begins and ends in Chengdu, the capital of China’s Sichuan Province. This historic city of over 10 million people has long been considered one of China’s most free-thinking and laid-back.  However, it is what lies in Chengdu’s backyard that keeps us coming back – to the west stands the Tibetan Plateau. For centuries, intrepid travelers and traders have been traversing this immensely challenging route known as the Tea Horse Caravan Route back and forth to the epicentre of Tibetan Culture in Lhasa.
The plateau rises high above the Chinese farmlands and the misty foothills of the Sichuan Basin, creating both a geographical and cultural boundary that is very rewarding to cross. Here we leave behind the great Han Chinese society and begin exploring the variety of traditional Tibetan cultures.
Our route takes us over three 4000-meter passes, across high plateau grasslands and through deep valleys cut by some of the world’s largest rivers.  The ride incorporates secondary roads, gravel roads, village trails, horse routes and cart paths.
Rob has returned to the Tibetan Plateau every year since he fell in love with the area in 2006 during on his round the world bike tour. Since then, he has guided traditional road tours in this area with our partner Bike China Adventures. Rob and long-time riding partner Chris Ganeff teamed-up to design this truly unique off-road adventure.
The most challenging aspect of the expedition is the high elevation, particularly the final four stages on the plateau from Bamei to Kangding.

From October 8 to October 22 this new trip that we have prepared for you.
